I wish I was the spokesmodel for these products.

They are just that awesome--and I could expect free stuff too!

This is the product spotlight page, where I'll post products that are tried and true or new ones I'm trying out.

<--These ones here, now...from the top left corner, moving clockwise: Bumble and Bumble hair products, John Frieda 'Secret Weapon', Ole Henrikson skin care, and more Bumble love.

BUMBLE & BUMBLE: All right! Let's talk about this stuff. Folks, I'm fond of saying that I have thick, almost horse-like hair. I warned a theatre hair/wig artist that my hair would be a trial and  he rolled his eyes at me and said he'd seen worse.

(Boy, did he regret that later. I resisted the obvious "I told you so.")

I do hair modeling from time to time--I donate my time and my hair for students and professionals to practice on in exchange for a new haircut or some fundage. A student hairstylist tried Bumble's Quenching Shampoo and Conditioner and folks...I stopped hating my hair. It's pricey stuff (Quenching runs about $30-35 a bottle, bumbleandbumble.com) but there are places to get decent discounts: Wal-Mart and Target sometimes have trial sizes in the travel section, so that's a great place to start, or your local Sephora for a sample. Carlton Hair has a deal where you bring in three empty Bumble bottles and they give you 10-15% off your next Bumble purchase.

Back to my hair. The products have tamed it, making my mane smooth and shiny and LIGHT. My hair dries faster and feels better than ever before. I am actually looking up hairstyles on Pinterest because I'm so excited about my "new" hair.

The bottom right picture includes the Seaweed products...meh. They're okay. Kinda weaksauce for me, but they were on sale and I was feeling label love. Defrizz and Styling Gel--by themselves, they don't do much. But if you pour a little Defrizz on your palm and mix in Styling Gel and run it through your hair while still wet, you will notice a difference the next day. You'll notice less flyaways and more softness.

Brilliantine is great, smells like lilies, and is pretty concentrated. You only need a drop or two to add a little shine. Grooming Creme I love when I'm braiding my hair. It tames wispies and holds my braids in place. I love to finish with Bumble Does It All Classic Hold (not pictured, I ran out) but I'm split on how it holds. Sometimes it's great, sometimes not so much. I think the best hold (though not the best scents) comes from Got2B's Hold All Night and Suave's Maximum Hold. Those sprays will hold your curls even in face of an oncoming wave.

John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon: ahhh, the smell. It's light and lovely. It does the same thing that the Grooming Creme does, at 75% less of the price. Creme will run about $20 or so; Frieda runs at about $8 and you can get it anywhere. Sadly, Bumble is still considered a 'specialty.'

I like Frieda for days I know I'm going to be near the beach. A dollop run through my hair with my fingers does the trick: soft, calm, and un-frizzy.

Ole Henriksen: If you haven't tried her products yet, YOU HAVEN'T LIVED. I'm serious. I was given a sample at Sephora and I pooh-poohed it--and then I tried it. My skin cleared OVERNIGHT--the natural pink flush came back into my cheeks, my color finally balanced, and my skin and pores were clean. I highly recommend using ALL of the products pictured.

DAY: Start with a drop of Truth Serum, follow with Fresh Eye Start, then Sheer Transformation.

NIGHT: Truth Serum, Nightly Eye Gel, Night Face Gel (the green one), and finish with Sheer Transformation.

If you don't want to spend a ton of money, get samples from Sephora. Try a day and night and then see how you feel the following day. If you smile at your reflection, I've done my job. :)

Until next time.

xoxo
